Sample Submission FAQ

Common questions about RNA sample submission and biosample preparation

Where can I find the recommended RNA amount for my tRNA service?
The RNA Sample Submission guide lists recommended total RNA amounts per sample for tRNA-seq, tRF/tiRNA-seq, tRNA Charging Seq, tRNA modification sequencing, tRNA and tRF&tiRNA PCR arrays, and tRNA/mRNA modification LC-MS. Recommended minimums are intended for the entire experiment for a single attempt, including sample QC. Supplying twice the recommended minimum avoids project delays.
What should I do if my sample amount is below the recommended minimum?
If the recommended minimum amount is not obtainable, consult Arraystar technical support by email at support@arraystar.com to make special arrangements. In case of low sample amount or quality, we will contact you to decide whether to replace, proceed, or drop the sample from the study. Data quality and success rate may decrease with lowered sample amount or quality.
How should biosamples be prepared for RNA extraction?
Cells should be immediately lysed in TRIzol; RNAlater is not recommended for cells. For tissues, excise within 10 minutes, then use the RNAlater method, TRIzol method, fresh freezing in liquid nitrogen, or FFPE fixation. For biofluids, collect serum, plasma, or whole blood as directed, and isolate exosomes by your chosen method. Ship all biosamples on dry ice.
