The 8 Steps
Initial Consultation
Arraystar provides an initial consultation at the start of any project before quotation. Send the basics of your project by email to the customer specialist or to support@arraystar.com.
Quotation and Service Contract
After consultation, we send a Quotation, Statement of Work and Deliverables (Exhibit 1), Terms and Conditions (Exhibit 2), and Project Related Information Sheet (Exhibit 3). The quotation number, beginning with J, becomes your project number.
Payment Arrangement
Before starting a project, Arraystar requires the payment to be pre-arranged. Details are included in your formal Service Contract.
Submission of Samples
Complete and sign the Project Related Information Sheet, send it by email, and include a copy in the package with your samples. Ship samples via overnight courier to Arraystar with the project number referenced.
Sample Prep and QC
For cell lines, tissues, blood, and biofluids, RNA or DNA samples are prepared by Arraystar. All samples are quality assessed before experiments, and Sample QC Reports are included in your final reports.
Experimental Processes
Microarray services include hybridization, washing, and scanning followed by array QC. Sequencing services include library preparation, library QC, cluster generation, and sequencing by synthesis.
Bioinformatics Services
Two levels of bioinformatics service are available: standardized services described in the Deliverables, and in-depth data mining upon request. Specify your requirements by email.
Data Shipment and Review
You will receive notification when your project data is shipped or available for download. Free data review is available within 24 hours of request with your project number and questions.
- Your contact information including institution or company names, state and country (if other than U.S.)
- The number of samples, the species, and the samples’ conditions to be submitted.
- The experimental design with the type of service and the number of samples to be performed.
- Your time line and budget (if available), and any data analysis requirements other than the Arraystar standard.
- Any other concerns you want to address.

- Submission of the Project Related Information Sheet: complete and sign it prior to sending samples; email the signed sheet and place a copy in a waterproof bag, separate from your samples, in the package.
- Samples should be sent via overnight courier of your choice to: Arraystar, Inc., 9430 Key West Avenue, Suite 128, Rockville, MD 20850 USA. Phone: 240-314-0388. Attention: Arraystar Inc. (Project #J-_____).
- Sample Receipt Confirmation: reference the Project Number in all shipments and inquiries; do not ship samples on Thursday or Friday as they may sit over the weekend; notify us with tracking information after shipping.
- Microarray: array hybridization, washing, and scanning followed by array QC analysis. Refer to the microarray service pages for platform-specific procedures.
- Sequencing: sequencing library preparation, library QC, cluster generation, and sequencing by synthesis on Genome Analyzer. Refer to the sequencing service pages for service-specific procedures.
This effort ensures our Quotation and Statement of Work and Deliverables accurately reflect your experimental design. We provide recommendations based on our experience, but final decisions always rest with the client.
Once you have reviewed the Quotation and its accompanying files, please sign the Quotation. Together these files constitute the Service Contract. Any changes afterwards will be documented in writing so that our responsibilities to you are always clear.

You will receive notification upon receipt of your samples, including any deviations between your Sample Submission Form and the contents received, or any issues with the physical condition of the samples.
If your samples are cell lines, fresh, frozen, or preserved tissue, blood, and other biofluids, the RNA or DNA samples will be prepared by Arraystar. All RNA and DNA samples must be assessed for quality prior to experimental processes. Should there be concern about the amount or quality after this initial assessment, a customer service specialist will contact you to decide whether to proceed, replace a sample, or drop a sample from the study.
We have two levels of Bioinformatics Service. Standardized services are described in the Deliverables. If you need in-depth data mining, please contact us by email and specify your requirements.
