Arraystar Small RNA Modification Array profiling found m7G upregulated tsRNA mt-tRF3b-LeuTAA [1]. The study demonstrates that METTL1/m7G/mt-tRF3b-LeuTAA axis can accelerate cartilage degradation by inhibiting mitophagy and promoting mitochondrial dysfunction through SIRT3 SUMOylation in chondrocytes. Targeting m7G epitranscriptomic modification and its downstream signaling axis could be a promising therapeutic strategy for osteoarthritis.
