Through Arraystar Small RNA Modification Array analysis, o8G modified tRF-1-AspGTC was found upregulated in the lung tissues and the serum of patients with pulmonary hypertension [1]. Inhibition of the o8G modification reversed hypoxia-induced proliferation and apoptosis resistance in pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells. The o8G-tRF retargets WNT5A and CASP3 mRNAs to inhibit their expression and exacerbates pulmonary hypertension progression via BMPR2–reactive oxygen species/o8G-tRF/WNT5A signaling pathway. The findings present o8G-tRF as a novel therapeutic target and biomarker for the disease.
