R-loops are RNA:DNA three-stranded hybrid loop structure occurring in genomic DNA. They are formed during nascent RNA transcription in coding and noncoding regions in the genome. R-loops have important biological functions and are clinically linked to cancer, neural, and cardiovascular diseases.
